Improving Access to Appointments – What We’re Doing and How You Can Help

Posted by: alexjemmett - Posted on:

We understand the frustration of the ‘8am rush’ and are working on solutions to improve access to appointments. Here’s what we’ve done so far and how you can help:

What We’ve Changed

More staff answering appointment calls – Our Prescription Line now operates Monday to Friday, 9:30 am – 12 noon, freeing up an additional staff member to assist with appointment calls between 8:00 am – 9:30 am.

Easier ways to order prescriptions – You can request prescriptions via:

  • The NHS App
  • Email: lscicb-csr.prescriptions.worden@nhs.net

Appointments Available for Online Booking

You can book the following appointments online via the NHS App:

📍 Blood Tests (only if requested by the surgery)
📍 Long-Term Condition Reviews (after receiving an invitation)
📍 Smear Tests
📍 Contraception Reviews
📍 NHS Health Checks (if invited)
📍 HRT Reviews
📍 Vaccinations – Pre School Boosters and Flu
📍 Vitamin B12 Injections

Using Online Triage for Non-Urgent Requests

You can use Patient Online Triage via:
📱 The NHS App

This service is available for:

  • Non-urgent appointment requests
  • Administration requests (e.g., fit note renewals)

Our care navigation team can send you a booking link when appropriate. Availability is currently limited, but we will expand as usage increases.
